When you want to get your body in shape quickly, safely, healthy and easy, you need to make sure to consume everything that it needs. It means that you get enough vitamins, minerals, fibers and other stuff needed for normal body functioning. If your previous attempts didn't get you anywhere, try juicing to lose weight and to improve your health at the same time.

Numerous types of vegetables lose most of their healthy substances when you cook them. And they really are full of valuable phytonutrients. You should consume them fresh, and some, such as kale, for example, don't have very appealing taste. This problem can be easily solved if you combine these veggies with sweet and tasty fruits.

Carrots are great for your skin, eyes and hair. They are sweet and really tasty, so they can replace fruits in different recipes. Oranges, apples and lemons should be included in your healthy juices, but don't forget about grapefruits and pineapples. These fruits have very good effects on the process of losing weight.

Another great thing about juicing is that it detoxifies your body simply and easily. One day of juicing, with at least five glasses of juice and a few glasses of cold water is great, but it would be even better if you could stay on this diet for at least three days. Some experts say it should last for one week, but some people find it too exhausting.

Of course, if you are determined to lose your excess weight quickly, you can try practicing this diet for a week or two. You could lose maybe ten pounds this way, or even considerably more, depending on your eating habits. It won't be easy, but it never is, but your body ill get what it needs and your skin will appreciate this approach.

When you achieve your perfect weight, you should consider maintaining it juicing once a week. Another good idea is to replace your dinner with freshly prepared vegetable juice, with some fruits added. Choose organically grown ones if you can.

The Best Techniques To Boost Your Calorie Burn

There are a lot of reasons why people can't or don't lose weight. Metabolism is often a quite significant one. Your metabolic rate is the rate at which you burn calories in breaking down food for energy. Many people have metabolisms that are operating below peak rates. I hope to help you rev up yours by taking a handful of steps.

Some people do have slower metabolisms based on heredity. Age can be a factor as well, with the average person's metabolism slowing about five percent every decade after forty. But these are things out of our control and harping on them do nothing, but keep us from doing things that will actually have an impact on improving our metabolic rates. I offer you some of the best metabolic boosters known today.

Different macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat) require different energy expenditures by the body in order to digest the food. Protein burns roughly 5x-6x more calories during digestion than a similar amount of calories of fat and about 3x more than carbohydrates. Eat your weight in protein grams and see your metabolic rate soar.

Proper hydration is also key in aiding digestion. With our bodies made up of nearly two-thirds water, it is not beyond reason to think that dehydration can inhibit most bodily functions, including metabolism. Research has shown that drinking more water burns more calories. I recommend one ounce per pound of body weight plus eight ounces per fifteen minutes of exercise. If you want a kicker, drink ice water. This is because of the thermo effect of food/drink. It takes extra calories to warm up cold water in your body.

Smaller, more frequent meals can also play a key role. I recommend six meals per day. Your body will burn more calories by kickstarting the digestion process more frequently throughout the day. It is also important to try to eat a serving of protein with every meal. Consistency is also key. Eating six meals one day and three the next can impact your metabolic rate. Skipping meals is dangerous for your metabolism. It is important to eat a high protein meal early in the morning to get your metabolism running again after a night of fasting.

Eating whole foods is highly recommended as opposed to those that are processed with chemicals and heavy in fat, sodium, and sweeteners. If you do include processed foods in your daily diet, I recommend always reading your food labels so that you are aware of exactly what is in your foods. You would be surprised by some of the dangerous chemicals that are approved for use in our food supply. Some of these can inhibit your metabolism or lead to overeating. It's best to avoid highly-refined foods.

Exercise also plays a big role in increasing metabolism. I recommend weight lifting at least three times a week. Use weights that will drive you to failure at no more than twelve reps. Six to ten is an excellent range to target. Also, having more muscle means more calories burned. In terms of cardio, I recommend interval training, which flip flops between sprints and slower movements. You can get a great cardio workout in only twenty minutes instead of running five miles in an hour.

I also recommend getting 7-8 hours of sleep per night. If you're tired, it's likely you'll skip workouts and crave unhealthy carbs. Proper sleep allows your body to function at its best.

I caution everyone on the use of diet pills and other quick fixes. These rarely have a positive, long-term impact. If they did, our country wouldn't have the obesity rate it does.

Sleep Apnea and Weight Gain

Is a lack of sleep thwarting your best weight loss efforts? There is much evidence to suggest that a lack of sleep goes hand-in-hand with weight gain. But first, it is important to address why you are not sleeping well. Is your stress level or caffeine intake to blame? Or is your sleeplessness due to a common but very serious condition called sleep apnea? Sleep apnea can affect weight loss, hunger and hormone activity in a number of ways, thwarting your best efforts to maintain a healthy weight.

To put it simply, sleep apnea happens when breathing is obstructed or ceases altogether while sleeping. Symptoms of the condition range from light snoring to waking up several times during the night, gasping for air. The most common form of sleep apnea " obstructive sleep apnea " affects approximately six percent of the population. But this number is expected to rise along with the increasing rate of obesity, because obesity is a chief cause of obstructive sleep apnea.

To make matters worse, those who are already overweight may gain weight more easily if they arent getting adequate sleep, fueling a vicious cycle. Several theories attempt to explain why a lack of sleep may encourage us to pack on the pounds. Some say that a sleep-deprived person simply doesnt have the energy to be active during the day. Theyre too tired to get to the gym or even take the stairs, burning far fewer calories than a well-rested individual would. Others believe the sleep-deprived attempt to make up for a lack of energy by consuming a greater number of calories. Additional evidence surrounding sleep deprivation and weight gain suggests the problem may be hormonal.

Hormone function is largely responsible for the way in which fat cells respond to the food we eat. Cortisol is a hormone that is usually released in response to emotional and physical stress. When we dont get enough sleep, cortisol is released at an increased rate, making us feel hungry even if we have eaten enough.

And just because sleep apnea is most common among adults, don't assume that children are exempt from the problem. Its no secret that the number of obese children is rising steadily; and its no stretch to imagine that some of these children will develop sleep apnea.

If you are having trouble sleeping on a regular basis, you may be suffering from sleep apnea. Otherwise, a few simple tips and tricks just might help get you back on a regular sleep schedule. If you are already obese and suffering from sleep apnea, your chiropractor can discuss a sensible dieting plan with you, helping you return to a healthy weight and enjoy more restful, unobstructed sleep. And of course, never underestimate the importance of exercise. Exercising three to four times per week is crucial for restful sleep. Make sure your room is dark and the temperature of the room will remain comfortable throughout the night. Calcium and How To Lose Weight Fast: The Connection

Did you know that increasing your calcium intake can help you to lose weight fast? A new study shows that calcium may help prevent fat formation and aid in weight (fat) loss.

Based on earlier research that found obese men lost fat quickly on high calcium diets, a controlled study examined the impact of calcium intake and fat loss in mice. The research seems to show that high calcium intake may be a good idea for those interested in losing fat and keeping it off. In fact, calcium shows surprising slimming power, perhaps by stimulating hormones that govern the storage of fat into fat cells.

Hang Shi, a postdoctoral student in the Nutrition Institute at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville said,

"The effect of an increased calcium intake may help reduce body fat. The effect is very significant, much more than we imagined it would be."

His paper on the effects of a high-calcium diet in increasing body fat loss was presented at the Experimental Biology 2000 meeting in San Diego. "The magnitude of the findings was shocking," says Michael Zemel, PhD, director of the Nutrition Institute. In past studies, Zemel and colleagues have shown that calcium stored in fat cells plays a crucial role in regulating how fat is stored and broken down by the body. It's thought that the more calcium there is in a fat cell, the more fat it will burn.
Special Study Reveals Calciums Effect on Decreasing Body Fat:

In a special study on obese mice, those put on a diet and given calcium supplements experienced a 42% decrease in body fat, whereas mice dieting without supplements had only an 8% decrease. They also discovered a way to increase this fat loss by 69.4% by consuming natural forms of calcium found in foods instead of supplements.

Recommendations:

Men of all ages need about 1,000 - 1,200 mg per day. The recommended intake is 1,000 mg for women 25 to 50 years of age and for women over 50 who take estrogen. For women 50 or older who are not taking estrogen and for all women over 65, 1,500 mg is recommended.

Eight ounces of milk (or yogurt) contains about 300 mg of calcium. However, some people are lactose intolerant so consuming dairy foods is not an option. In this case, your best bet is to consume green leafy vegetables and legumes to provide your daily allowance of calcium.

Of course, you can also take a calcium pill as this is an option. However, it's best to get your calcium from food sources because of their inclusion of other highly beneficial and necessary substances as well.

Good sources of natural foods that contain high amounts of calcium are:

* Sardines - 3 ounces = 371 mg.
* Collard Greens - 1 cup = 148-357 mg.
* Turnip Greens - 1 cup cooked = 194-249 mg.

* Shrimp - 3 ounces = 98 mg.
* Brocolli - 1 cup cooked = 94 mg.
* Green Beans - 1 cup cooked = 67 mg.
* Dried beans - 1 cup cooked = 50-90 mg.
* Eggs - 1 large egg = 30 mg.

Can You Lose Weight Quicker by Eating More Fat?

Eating certain types of fat helps increase the rate at which you can lose fat and weight

To lose weight quick is one of the more pervasive desires in our "quick-fix" society. Problem is, just being able to lose weight "at all" is what most people struggle with, much less the ability to lose weight quick.

However, there are a group of fats that, if ingested in adequate quantities, will actually help anyone lose weight quick. They are called Essential Fatty Acid's (EFA's).

The Medicinal Uses Of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Honestly, natural apple cider vinegar is one of nature's own, true miracle health elixirs. How Being Overweight Increases the Risk of Hypertension

It's a sad statistic - depending on the study, anywhere from a quarter to one-half of all Americans today are overweight. It's not just the adults - almost 14% of all children carry more weight than they should, a sharp increase from barely 5% only a few decades ago.

The main factor for this is that exercising is being done less and less by the average american, experts say. And as household income increases, so does the consumption of unhealthy foods.

And while most schools require credits in Physical Education or JROTC for graduation, the growing number of overweight children tells us that these programs aren't doing as well as we hope.

We all know that being overweight is directly correlated to hypertension. The heart tends to work harder when the body is carrying more weight than it should. this makes it grow larger, then weaker as time goes by.

Arteries will also have the tendency to harden, obstructing the flow of blood around the body.

Hypertension is marked by a blood pressure reading of over 120/80 mm Hg. Individuals who suffer from hypertension are at increased risks of heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, dementia, blindness, and impotence.

Studies indicate that overweight individuals are three times more likely to suffer from high blood pressure than those who are healthy.

Conventional hypertension treatments, such as medical therapies to suggestions on how to exercise and eat healthier, are a dime a dozen. But as I've mentioned in a previous post, no one really makes use of these treatments.

Many would frown at the prohibitive prices of some of these treatments, while others would much rather do without the side effects.

Low GI Foods

The glycemic index, more commonly known as GI, ranks carbohydrate foods according to their effect on glucose levels in the blood. High GI foods are absorbed rapidly and lead to a quick rise in blood glucose levels.

On the other hand, low GI foods are broken down more gradually. This leads to blood glucose levels that are more stable.This can help avoid a seesaw effect with fluctuations in both mood and energy.

Low GI foods release energy more slowly because they take longer to digest. This can give the feeling of being "full" for longer which decreases the need for snacks.

High GI foods, on the other hand, can lead to wildly fluctuating blood sugar levels, which in turn, can cause the pancreas to overproduce insulin. This can lead to illnesses such as Syndrome X, hypoglycemia, and type II diabetes. There is also research which suggests that lower GI diets help improve levels of 'good' cholesterol, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease.

Most low GI diets don't restrict you to only eating low GI foods, but usually prompt you to add more foods with a low glycemic index in your diet. Simply adding a low GI food to a meal, has the effect of lowering the glycemic index for the whole meal. In particular, active people should use of balance of high and low GI foods to make sure they have optimal energy stores for exercise.

High glycemic index foods include many carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, serial and baked goods. Low glycemic index foods tend to include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. However, within these broad categories there are differences. For example, bananas and potatoes would be classified as having a mid-range glycemic index.

Other factors, such as the methods used to cook food can affect GI levels.

While GI is useful, you need to be sensible. For example, chocolate is a low GI food, but it is not the best food to add to your diet.

Nevertheless, GI can be a useful tool for selecting between foods that have low levels of saturated fat and are nutrient-rich.

Losing Weight Via Alternative Methods

Being overweight is a problem that is facing most citizens across many nations today. To get back to a slim size, all sorts of methods and options are being explored. If nothing has seemed to work just yet, there is one alternative that is proving to be an easy and effective weigh loss solution.

One odd attribution to the weight we gain and can't lose is the fact that eating any type of unhealthy food in the past few years could still have an impact today. Pure Hoodia Gordonii and the Importance of the CITES Certificate

If you are thinking about taking hoodia diet pills to help you with your weight loss, you probably know that CITES certificates differentiate pure hoodia gordonii from inferior hoodia products. Yet, I wonder how many people truly understand what the CITES certificate really is and why it's so important. As a consumer I want you to know what the certificate is and what it means within the hoodia market.

The hoodia gordonii plant is a protected species due to its limited supply and high demand. It is only found in South Africa and until recent years, was only grown wild. Due to the increasing popularity for hoodia gordonii, farming began in an attempt to keep up with skyrocketing demand. In order to protect the hoodia plant and the industry as a whole, including the San people who have a vested interest in their native crop, the South African government implemented controls, licenses, and regulations for the harvesting and exportation of hoodia gordonii.

One of the basic regulations put in place for the endangered hoodia gordonii is the implementation of the CITES certificate. CITES stands for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. This is basically an agreement between governments that ensures that international trade of the plant doesn't threaten its survival. There are other regulations and documents that are required, too, but for the sake of this article I am only going to discuss the CITES certificate.

In order for a company to legally export hoodia gordonii from South Africa, an export permit from CITES must be obtained. Every shipment exported from South Africa must be accompanied by a CITES permit. These permits expire in six months, but the expiration period only pertains to the actual shipment of hoodia gordonii out of South Africa. In other words, a supplier has six months from the time they are issued a CITES permit to actually ship the hoodia gordonii out of South Africa. If they don't and the shipment of hoodia sits in the port, the supplier must reapply for a new permit.

There has been a lot of confusion about the dates on CITES permits. Some people are made to believe that the dates on these permits must be "current" or the company involved in the selling of hoodia gordonii is shady or lying. A CITES certificate that is outdated or old is just that - which means the six month window of exportation has expired.

When someone exports hoodia gordonii from South Africa, the original CITES permit stays with the inventory until it is gone. If a supplier exports thousands of kilograms of hoodia on one permit, they may not sell out of it for months and months. Yes, the date on the CITES permit will be expired, but the permit itself is still valid and proves the hoodia gordonii is legal and authentic. Just because a CITES permit may have expired doesn't mean the plant that is being used is a fake, or that shady practices are involved in the business.

Something that is important for you to know is a CITES certificate may have a different company's name on it than the company you are purchasing the hoodia products from. This means you may go to the XYZ Company to purchase hoodia supplements and upon viewing their CITES certificate you see the supplier's name is ABC Company. The names on the CITES permits may not always match up.

Supplement companies purchase their hoodia gordonii from suppliers. Suppliers are the ones that are listed on the CITES permits. These are the companies that actually go in and export the hoodia out of South Africa. There are only a limited number of suppliers who can obtain CITES permits. In the above example, the ABC Company is the supplier of the hoodia gordonii to the XYZ Company.

It's important that you understand that just because a website display a CITES certificate isn't a guarantee that the company is packaging pure hoodia gordonii into their products. As you probably know, there are no regulations on supplements, so companies can make claims about their products, even if they may not be true.

That is not always true. Keep in mind that the only thing a CITES permit proves is that a supplier was given the right to export "X amount" of hoodia gordonii from South Africa. Once the supply is exported, the supplier and any company purchasing hoodia from the supplier can do what they want with the hoodia gordonii. A company may claim they are selling a hoodia diet pill that contains 500mg of authentic hoodia gordonii, and while they may have a CITES certificate for the supply they purchased, they may not use a full 500mg in each capsule! They may only use 250mg or 150mg or whatever may be the case.

Now that you have a better understanding of what the CITES certificate is and what its role is, you know why looking for one is important when trying to find authentic hoodia gordonii diet pills and products.
