A Reiki Healing Session: What To Expect

Reiki is a form of energy healing that has become a popular complement to modern medicine as well as an alternative healing therapy used throughout the world. Although its roots can be traced back centuries, it developed in its modern form in Japan in the early twentieth century. And, it is from two Japanese words (rei and ki) that we get the word Reiki. Roughly translated, Reiki means "universal life energy".

Practitioners of Reiki believe that there is a type of subtle energy that flows in and around everyone and everything in the universe. It is this universal life energy that a Reiki practitioner attempts to channel to the afflicted person during a healing session.

Reiki practitioners believe that all illnesses have non-physical components. The purpose of a Reiki healing session is to channel additional life energy, or ki, to the person who suffers from some type of physical or mental trauma. The additional energy clears blockages and establishes an increased, and more efficient, internal flow of energy within the person. As this occurs, true healing can begin.

The time needed for an individual healing session varies depending on the client and the particular problem addressed. However, Reiki therapists generally schedule their sessions for 45-60 minutes. The client remains fully clothed during a Reiki session. He or she may lie flat or sit upright. It is especially important that both the healer and the person who has sought out healing feel comfortable, peaceful, and serene during the healing session. Soft lighting and relaxing music are often used by Reiki practitioners to increase these feelings.

When the client is comfortable, the therapist places his or her hands lightly on, or slightly above, the person's body. The hands of the healer are held palms down with fingers and thumbs extended. During the session, the Reiki therapist will move his or her hands to particular locations on the body, following a specific routine. There are 12-15 Reiki hand positions which correspond to energy centers. The healer will stop at each of these locations to transmit energy. The healer will pause at each location until the flow of energy seems to subside or stop. When the energy flow subsides, the therapist will move to another hand position, working from head to feet. It is important to note that a Reiki healer does not direct the energy in an active sense. The Reiki practitioner is merely a conduit. He or she simply adopts the intent to heal. The life energy itself is intelligent. It goes where it is needed.

A sensation of heat is often taken as an indication of Reiki energy flow. However, a wide range of personal perceptual experiences may be reported by both the healer and the recipient. Among other things, a tingling, coolness, warmth, or the sensation of colors may be experienced.

According to Reiki therapists, people typically leave a Reiki session feeling very relaxed and tranquil. However, recipients of Reiki therapy sometimes experience what therapists call a cleansing crisis. They may feel headachy, nauseous, dizzy, or weak. For Reiki practitioners, these symptoms are the result simply of the body getting rid of toxins and realigning itself to the flow of ki. Rest and increased fluid intake are often recommended to help the person cope with these symptoms.

What Is Reiki And How Does It Work?

Reiki is a system that was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian Minister Japan. One day a student hit him with the question "do you believe in miracles" and he said, "Yes I believe in miracles," and the student said, "Well show us a miracle." This threw his life in a tailspin for awhile and he went out on a quest. This quest led him to various monasteries and he went to Tibet and Nepal and this is where Reiki started out, in Tibet and Nepal and Burma and what most people don't understand is that this a shamanism practice.

It stills has its symbols thanks to Usui. He wound up fasting and not even drinking any water for like 22 days up on a mountain in Japan and on the last day when he was about dead he finally went into a shamanistic ecstasy and these symbols came to him. He felt he was lifted off the ground and these symbols were burned through his body, and when the whole thing is over he felt like he could take on the world.

When he turned around and started to walk off he kicked a rock and busted up his toe. It started bleeding profusely and something came to him to take his hands and put them on his feet and the bleeding stopped.

The pain went away so he walked down the mountain and he got to an inn and decided to get something to eat. The inn keeper came out to wait on him and he noticed that her face was bandaged up because she had a bad tooth. He ate his meal and to repay the innkeeper he put his hands on her jaw and they got so warm they almost burned her, but when she took off the bandage her jaw was fine.

He went on and that is how Reiki was re-discovered. Now the thing about Reiki they channel energy in a particular pattern because of the symbols to heal someone and restore harmony. Now, Reiki works on restoring harmony to the body. That is energy that has become imbalanced. It can be used to get rid of energy blocks; it can detoxify your system. It can bring about deep relaxation so a person can sleep. It does this by introducing universal life energy and that meets with the vibrational energy of each person and helps to bring that into balance.

So it falls under the same auspices of any hands on healing modality. Now I know people aren't going to want to hear this but some people will get a Reiki treatment and they walk away feeling worse or feel like they have something attached to them.

Mainly, this is because the person treating you had "stuff" and they weren't being a clear and open channel and their "stuff" got on you. Now I say this in all sincerity I pull no punches I've seen the best these things can do and I have seen the worse. Ignorance gets us into trouble and it's our ego that keeps us there. If you can't get yourself out of the way it is a disservice to anyone that you are working on and I have seen this. You have to get yourself out of the way and truly be that open clear channel for spirit to move through.

Reiki Energy Healing Is Beyond Compare

By Taylore Vance

What is the Reiki healing process? Why is it called beyond all human divisions? Reiki energy healing has been around over 4000 years as tool to apply Source energy as an energy healing modality. While it is not a religion or connected to any church it is very spiritual in nature. It heals on the physical mental and emotional levels.

Health practitioners in hospitals are finding Reiki useful in the recovery of the clients. Several studies are going on all around the world to test the use of Reiki in hospitals. Reiki treats the body, mind and soul for low or discordant energy. Reiki removes low and negative energy and the practitioner applies a flow of Source energy from their hands. Reiki even heals depression by changing the energy from bad to good energy.

Reiki I hands-on-healer can learn those skills in only one day - although it is better to take your time and learn Reiki over several days. Once upon a time it took years to become a Reiki I or a Reiki II practitioner. People who study Reiki have an increased flow of energy.

Down through history the normal flow of energy was closed down. Historically and genetically speaking, people who appeared to have special abilities during the ages of persecution were harmed in some way. Remember reading about the burning of witches? This knowledge that flowing a large current of Source Energy would be dangerous to your health because of the punishments received in ancient times may have caused the subconscious mind to close you down in this life.

When the parent puts a family member down and criticizes them, they will not try to become special in any way. These people try to become invisible. This person will benefit from becoming Reiki and flowing Reiki energy. Reiki energy heals the person of low esteem while they learn to flow this healing energy to others.

A computer is hard wired to run windows and your body is hard wired to flow the Reiki healing energy. Flowing Reiki is beyond compare and your life is never the same. In order to flow even more of any healing energy People schooled in Reiki know that an attunement to Reiki is necessary. Everyone benefits from being Reiki.

Reiki is the most awesome healing modality. It goes beyond the physical reality to heal your emotional problems as well as pain. Try a Reiki treatment --- see how much lighter Reiki makes you feel.

The Truth Behind Alternative Health Therapy

By Anne Woodland

Alternative health therapy is often used instead of conventional treatment. Integrated therapies use a combination of either alternative or complementary therapies with normal medical treatment, for the practice of which a high level of expertise is required. Alternative therapies make available services which are not offered in conventional medicine. Some of the alternative therapies include: herbal medicine, folk medicine, and homeopathy, diet fads, new age healing, faith healing, naturopathy, chiropractic, and music therapy even though this isn't an exhaustive list. Alternative therapies very often promise cure or help in areas where conventional treatment might not wish to do so.

You can gain a sense of control over your health through alternative health therapies that improves general quality of life by making you feel better about yourself. Reducing and eliminating tension, stress, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness, causes the person to feel a sense of well-being and relaxation. Alternative health therapies can help you to reduce all of the symptoms that are associated with cancer, like feeling sick, pain, constipation, breathlessness, tiredness, diarrhea, and poor appetite along with moderating all of the side effects that are associated with the traditional treatment for cancer.

A combination of alternative health therapies and conventional medicine has been noticed to be very effective in alleviating pain, even when there is a serious condition. Some cancer support groups for example, offer these therapies for free or make a small charge and some hospitals and hospices provide as part of cancer care, alongside conventional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Many cancer patients currently use alternate therapy to manage and sustain themselves through the difficult cancer treatments. These therapies are very valuable in that they identify and support spiritual and emotional characteristics and physical features, but they should not be used as the only alternative line of treatment.

More than billion is spent by the Americans annually on vitamins and herbs which are alternative health products. The recent studies that were conducted by Phillips, Tindle, Eisenberg and Davis, reflected that there was roughly seventy two million adults within the United States that use alternative and complementary therapies. The studies conducted by Herman, Craig and Caspi in 2005 also show an out of pocket spend of about billion annually on these therapies.

It is very essential to find out which alternative treatment is required by your particular type of problem, how comfortable are you with it and how effective will it be. Individual therapies have been proven to improve the quality of life for many people with Motor Neuron Disease (MND), these can include: acupuncture, aromatherapy, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, massage, meditation, reiki and reflexology. It is always a good idea to consult your physician before considering any of the alternative therapies available, and it is important to double check that any additional treatment undertaken will not adversely affect any current treatment program you are on.

In the event, that you make the decision to integrate some of the alternative health therapies into your specific treatment plan, you are going to need to discuss all of your choices very openly, regularly and honestly with your physician and others that are part of your health care team. Find out where the treatment is available, at your clinic or hospital or then though the doctors own practice. Today doctors are more and more convinced that alternative therapy does have a place in the overall healing of a patient. This gives them the ability to maybe recommend alternative therapy practitioners. Most find that this type of therapy gives them back some control of their lives and lessens the anxiety and it also helps them cope with side effects of conventional treatment.
