The Easy Way To Get Rid Of and Prevent Cold Sores

By Tina Woodburn

Many people suffer with cold sores and if you are one of these people, don't despair. You do not have to experience such outbreaks of cold sores as help is at hand to avoid or reduce the amount of occurrences you have.

Not only can cold sores be annoying, but they can be extremely painful. They can also spread. If you are someone who is susceptible to them then you know that you can have multiples sores on your lip at the same time. This is because the fluid inside the sore is extremely contagious and any part of the skin or lip it touches will cause another one to appear.

There are several reasons why you may get cold sores, but the main ones are when you do not have enough lysine in your body or when you are experiencing stress.

If you get cold sores there are several things you can do to ensure you don't have a breakout. It's important you take the right steps to minimize your chances of getting an outbreak.

Another main factor leading to cold sores is exposure to the sun. Always use a sun block and moisturizer on your lips when you are in the sun. This will help to prevent cold sores appearing.

If you are unfortunate enough to already have a cold sore, then the best thing you can do is to make sure you do not touch it, by picking, squeezing or nipping it, as the liquid from the sore will spread and cause further infection elsewhere around your mouth area. If you find yourself absentmindedly fingering the cold sore, wash your hands immediately to get rid of any of the excess fluid.

You can also prevent cold sores by taking Vitamin C and Lysine, deficiency of which is know to be the biggest cause of outbreaks. You can take both Vitamin C and Lysine in supplement form and this will reduce the amount of sores you suffer with and will also prevent future outbreaks from occurring.

No-one actually enjoys having cold sores as they do not look good and they are such a nuisance. However, if you follow the advice above, keeping your lips protected when in the sun by the use of sun block or moisturizers, making sure your body has the recommended levels of Vitamin C and Lysine and maintaining a well balanced and healthy diet, you will be well on your way to minimizing the occurrence of this unpleasant and unsightly condition.
